Persons maintaining graves – your attention is drawn to the following:

1. Memorials and places of interment

A cemetery trust may give directions to a person regarding the dressing of places of interment and memorials in the cemetery.
A person must comply with any direction given by a cemetery trust.

2. Approval for certain mementos - a person must not without the approval of a cemetery trust, place the following items on a memorial or place of interment:

Ceramic or glass items that are fragile or breakable
Metal items that are likely to rust or deteriorate

3. Items likely to cause harm – a person must not place any item likely to cause a risk to health or safety on a memorial or place of interment.

4. Power to remove objects – a cemetery trust may remove any of the following items from a memorial or place of interment in a cemetery for which it is responsible:

any object that extends beyond the boundary of the memorial or place of interment
any dead flowers or any other item that is in a poor condition
any object placed on a memorial or place of interment in contravention of the Act, the regulations or these rules

5. A cemetery trust must ensure anything removed is disposed of in a manner considered appropriate by the cemetery trust.

Ben Cairn Avenue

The only form of memorial permitted in the Ben Cairn Avenue is a bronze plaque 560mm wide and 305mm long, fixed to a raised block. The block is supplied and installed by the Cemetery Trust.

Ben Cairn Lawn

The only form of memorial permitted in the Ben Cairn Lawn is a bronze plaque 560mm wide and 305mm long, fixed to a raised concrete block. The concrete block is supplied and installed by the Cemetery Trust.

Morton Thomas Lawn

The only form of memorial permitted in the Morton Thomas Lawn is a bronze plaque 380mm wide and 280mm long or a double plaque 560mm wide and 305mm long. The bronze plaque is fixed to a concrete block set flush with the surface of the lawn. The concrete block is supplied and installed by the Cemetery Trust.

Memorial Ashes Garden

The only form of memorial permitted in the Memorial Garden is a bronze plaque 229mm wide and 280mm long fitted to a concrete block set flush with the surface of the garden. The concrete block is supplied and installed by the Cemetery Trust.

Scattered Ashes Section

The only memorial permitted in the Scattered Ashes Section is a bronze plaque no larger than 229mm wide and 280mm long fixed to a concrete block and set flush with the ground. The concrete block is supplied and installed by the Cemetery Trust.
